North Shore Minyan

Joint North Shore Morning and Evening Minyan

Congregation Shirat Hayam and Temple Sinai have united to provide a joint daily morning and evening North Shore Minyan.

The minyan will be supported by both synagogues. All are welcome to attend.

The minyan is held Monday through Friday at 7:30 am and 7:00 pm (except Friday evening), and Sunday at 9:00 am and 7:00 pm. The two synagogues will maintain their independent Friday evening and Saturday morning Shabbat services. Morning minyan on national holidays (New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Thursday and Friday, Christmas) will be held at 9:00 am and on Rosh Hodesh and the intermediate days of Sukkot and Passover at 7:15 am. Services will be conducted at Temple Sinai on Sunday and Monday and at Congregation Shirat Hayam all other days.

We welcome the entire community’s participation. Please come to support mourners reciting Kaddish and join both congregations and their Rabbis and Cantors in creating a spiritually meaningful, communal experience.

CSH Minyan/Service Snow Policy

  • If Swampscott schools are cancelled or delayed, CSH morning minyan is cancelled.

  • If Salem State cancels evening classes, CSH weekday evening minyan is cancelled.

  • When minyan is held at Temple Sinai on Sunday and Monday, we will notify our members via email and on a designated extension (#29) on our main number once a decision has been made.

  • For a snow emergency on Shabbat at CSH (Friday night or Saturday morning), we will make every attempt to send a congregational email and update extension #29.

  • As always, we ask you to err on the side of caution. Our minyan services are lay lead so if it is unsafe for our volunteers to be on the road, we ask you to stay home too. We encourage you to plan accordingly to say kaddish before or after your yahrzeit date if inclement weather is anticipated.

  • We encourage safety first. If your safety is in question, we encourage you to stay home and be safe and warm.

  • CEE and CJE will notify parents of policies/cancellations separately.
