Diane brings to CSH over two decades of experience as a dispute resolution practitioner, helping people solve problems and work together better through mediation, dialogue and team building. A dedicated educator, Diane has taught negotiation, conflict resolution, and communication skills to thousands of attorneys, executives, HR professionals, social workers, health care providers, educators, and others, for clients that have included Coca-Cola Enterprises and the United States Agency for International Development, and has been a Lecturer in the MBA program at Boston University Questrom School of Business. She is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and earned her J.D. cum laude from Suffolk University Law School in Boston.
Passionate about Judaism, Diane studied to become adult bat mitzvah in 2012. With a deep connection to ancient Jewish traditions, Diane participates regularly in services chanting Torah and Haftarot, and in 2014 completed her goal of leyning from every parashiyot. A lay leader and active volunteer at CSH, Diane served on the Board of Directors for four years as a member and officer. She co-chaired the Rabbi Search Committee in 2014-15, and has served on numerous other synagogue committees, including Personnel, Website, and Religious Life. She is happily married to Stephen Hicks, a law professor at Suffolk University and British national who became a proud American citizen in 2013. Diane and Steve have three adult children, one residing in Hawaii and two here in Massachusetts, who all phone home regularly.
