Judaism is said to rest upon three pillars: God, Torah and Israel or in essence: Prayer, Study and Community. Without any one of these legs the entire enterprise would collapse.
Judaism is certainly a religion but it is undoubtedly something far more complex. Whether or not you believe in God; regardless of your religious observance or intellectual knowledge of Judaism; any Jew, or holy Gentile partners of a Jew or Jewish family, are provided a space at the Jewish table, at least at this Jewish table.
CSH has consciously chosen the name “Congregation” Shirat Hayam to convey this very purpose “ we are first and foremost a congregation, a community, a people committed to nurturing, providing for and loving one another as much as possible. CSH is many things but we pride ourselves on being, first and foremost, a congregation where you will feel welcomed, accepted and valued.
